Staying grounded in spirit

One of the ways to help to keep me in touch with my higher self, to help start my day with a healthy heart-brain connection, is to read a page or two from the book I chose from the library while on retreat at Rivendell (and have since purchased): The Spirituality of Imperfection, Storytelling and the Journey to Wellness, by Ernest Kurtz and Katherine Ketcham.

The brevity of the stories and discussion in this book are in bite-size pieces that work well for me right now. The book meanders through a range of stories from a variety of traditions, religious studies and myths. Each are discussed in a page or less as to its meaning and wisdom. It is beautifully done, each author’s voice and passions shine through, while giving the story’s origin compliments and reverence, no matter the religious background.

For example, there are stories from Judaism, Christianity, Sufism and Greek mythology. A brief relaying of the story with wise discussion. Just enough for me to read a page or two, and put the book down to reflect, read another, or turn to something else.

Beautiful. ❤️
