Anxiously knitting at the edges

Still knitting.

Instead of the fine and super soft, off-white alpaca, I’ve decided to switch to a slightly heavier weight llama-merino blend in lovely light natural and a medium brown. It’s not quite as luxurious as the alpaca but it is still super soft and gorgeous to hold, and this weight is easier to knit. For me while I re-learn my previous proficiency.

Tonight though…. I’m wondering what I’ve got myself into.

It seems I’m doing fine, I’m happily going along, and then realize I’m doing something all wrong, or missed count or something!!

And I end up having to go back, count backwards, and actually knit backwards, sometimes a whole row….

With colour work, the issue is missing count or mixing up rows (even with safeguards like stitch markers, highlighter pencils and rulers!), and I’m having to go back and knit the correct colour pattern for that row.

Goodness me.

As you can see, in spite of it all, a lot of progress….

The under-brim is done with a pretty nifty progressive cast-on, and 8 of 21 pattern rows checked and complete (I hope!).

In total, we have here about 1/3 of a nice, soft…. hat.
